Mill Building Interior
In 1996 the Ka’u Agribusiness sugar plantation and mill was not profitable. To remain viable they felt they had to cut labor costs. They offered the employees a 15% reduction in wages, and informed them if that was not accepted they should not show up for work on Monday. The plant was shut down on Tuesday.

Nice new stuff (I love abandoned buildings) and that's a classy new header for the blog!
Hi Carl. Thanks for your comment. Changing the header was easy. I had to fiddle with the image size to get it to fit into the space but that was all. I don’t believe in ghosts but I always get a spooky feeling when I am in a deserted house or building. I am really drawn to them. I think about all the people that lived or worked there, their voices, their thoughts, the dynamic of there presence seems to linger. Of course there is the sadness that the abandonment gives.
